I finished my first fiction book for the year yesterday🎉🎉. Why is this information relevant? Well, I'm a reader of fiction. Until recently, the only non-fiction I've been forced to read has been my course materials in school.
This year, I made a resolution to seek out the wisdom and lessons in non-fiction for my self-development. It seems to have worked for many people, so yeah, peer pressure is real! 😩
I've also heard that to succeed as a writer, I need to read across all topics. I picked out some books (self-development, spiritual, financial literacy, etc.) with the help of my accountability group. I've succeeded in reading three books so far.
With fiction, I would have read more – the number isn't even significant. With fiction, I feel the most alive. I enjoy reading; it's just easier. It's like a shoe that fits perfectly. With fiction, I feel at home – a way to experience all the unique human emotions, live another life, and explore different realities. Reading for me has always been about these things.
It felt so good to remember how much reading used to make me feel. I was reminded again what reading is really supposed to feel like for me.
What better author to go on this journey with than the one and only Francine Rivers? Since I discovered her books, I've always sought out her work. I mean, who wouldn't?
"The Atonement Child" was a ride. So many emotions were evoked, but most especially, it was a journey of experiencing Christ and the beauty of redemption.
This is gradually turning into a book review – I'm sorry, I can't help it! Oh, God used Francine. I can imagine the number of people whose lives this story redeemed to Christ.
"The Atonement Child" is a story of God's love. It carried me through a brutal journey of uncertainty, doubt, and wandering. Dynah, the main character, was a miracle – a symbol of God's love.
God's ways are not always clear to us. He allows so much to happen so He can prove that He is God. He can use you to stop a circle of evil in your family.
In doubt, uncertainty, and confusion, Dynah waited for God. Even when He was silent, she didn't make any decisions until God spoke.
Non-fiction has been good; I have no complaints. "The Atonement Child" was a much-needed break though. So many steps I'm almost tripping.
What genre do you read? Any fiction readers in the house? Do you think we should start a book recommendation Saturday?
I love fiction.
But I haven't been reading it in a while now.
I'm into Christian Apologetics and self help...
Adam Grant's Think again has made an impact
Memoirs. The most important ones for me are memoirs and auto/biographies.
Oh yes! We need that Book Recommendation Saturday 😊
So long as you are enjoying your self while at it.
Oh! we are doing it then
